Introduction: What You Need To Know About Warzone 2.0
First, we need to understand why Warzone 2.0 is such a big deal, then we can go over everything you need to know about Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0. The original Warzone was an instant success when it was released in 2020. The large-scale battles and the sense of scale the game provided was loved.
The map was huge and there were plenty of places to explore and fight in. The weapons were varied and there was a good selection to choose from. As well as being able to scavenge for money and then buy your team’s custom load out. – which was a game changer in BR games – as all other games required you to just find weapons on the ground or loot defeated enemies.
The overall gameplay was great, fast-paced, and what call of duty was known for. This resolved some staleness of other BR games, such as PUBG. Where you can often find yourself walking around seeing no action for minutes on end. It also released a new second chance feature called the Gulag which consists of two players going head-to-head in a simple gunfight, where the winner takes all and gets to respawn.
Warzone 2.0 is free and will come with an install size of 115 GB. This hikes the file size with Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 to almost 200 GB. So if you’re looking to play in a few days, make sure to clear up some space on those hard drives.

The Map
Now, Warzone 2.0 is set to release in a couple of days on the 16th of November. There is a lot of hype around it. The map is said to be even bigger than the first one with many open areas, as well as even more areas for the close gun, and fights in buildings.
The map is called AL MAZRAH which is based in a fictional middle east country. It is said to be made up of several historic call of duty locations including a fan favorite, High Rise. It also features a large coastline that players can now swim in.
Al Mazrah is said to be slightly bigger than the previous Caldera, Verdansk and Pacific Warzone maps. There’s also a second smaller map already rumored to be released in late 2023. With a new map, there will be plenty of new opportunities and gunfights, which we’re incredibly excited about.
The Weapons
As for what you need to know about Warzone 2.0, Warzone 2.0 is based on the new release Modern Warfare 2. So it will feature all the weapons you can find in the parent title, similar to the first Warzone. Where the weapons differ though is when it comes to the popular load-outs. Warzone 1 changed the game in this aspect for BR games, as it finally made sense to spend time customizing and leveling up weapons. Players would build their load out in the lobby and then purchase it in-game with money from scavenging loot and players.
This has been changed for the Warzone 2.0 release, however. Now, you can only buy weapon upgrades in-game for a weapon you have found. So far fans aren’t too happy about this, with many asking for it to be changed back, which we can see ourselves agreeing with. But it’s always worth giving it a shot with an open mind, as the game has yet to even release and opinions are being formed.
The Gulag
The gulag is said to be making a return, however, not without change. The original gulag consisted of a 1v1 handgun close quarters battle map. What you need to know about Warzone 2.0 is a bit different, in that you are paired with a random player for a 2v2 battle. There are 2 maps, with one being a replica of loved map “Nuketown”. There is now a new addition known as the “break out key” which randomly spawns. Fans haven’t received this news well, as luck is now a huge factor in getting your second chance. – Especially as you now have to rely on a random teammate you can’t have any control over. We think it will change how the gulag is fundamentally played, but it will be interesting to see where new tactics develop.
New Vehicles And Features
Other new gameplay features include strongholds and AI defending them. There will be AI players scattered around the map who are said to not attack you unless you engage with them or come into their location. You will want to do this, as there is great loot in these strongholds! However, if you find yourself in a battle with another team, you don’t have to worry about them. This has been done to give it a more fast paced “real world” feel. To make the map feel like a “living and breathing place”.
There are also over 12 new vehicles in the game which include a stealth Hummer EV (Electric Vehicle). Other traditional vehicles will require refuelling and repair. Planning for the best tactical advantage is needed, as you will need to refuel them as well as repair damaged tyres, doors and glass. This can be done at gas stations around the map. These will definitely be hot spots where a lot of ambushes will take place so watch out.
There have also been leaks about future expansions for Warzone 2.0. These expansions are said to include new maps, weapons and gameplay modes. We’re excited to hear more about these expansions. They are sure to keep the game fresh and exciting for a long time to come. We’ll definitely be covering future expansions as they are announced and released.
