Game Awards 2022 - Esports Predictions
The Game Awards are just around the corner, and we here at Esports Maps are so excited! This year’s ceremony is shaping up to be one of the best yet, with some truly amazing games nominated in the various categories. In this blog post, we’re going to take a look at our predictions for who will win each award. Specifically the Game of the Year award, Best Esports Game, and Best Esports Team.
In this blog:
Game Of The Year
Nominees:
- A Plague Tale: Requiem
- Horizon: Forbidden West
- Elden Ring
- God of War Ragnarök
- Stray
- Xenoblade Chronicles 3
For Game of the Year, we predict that either Horizon: Forbidden West or God of War Ragnarök will take home the prize. Horizon: Forbidden West has been huge this year, and it has had a major impact on the gaming industry as a whole.
God of War Ragnarök although it has only been out for a month has taken the world by storm with its incredible graphics and cut scenes. This being said Horizon: Forbidden West is one of the best-selling games of the year so it would not be a surprise to see it take the prize.
It’s too close to call which one will win for certain, but we’re betting that Horizon: Forbidden West has got the edge simply because it’s been out for a lot more of the year. (But secretly we would love to see God of War win!)
Best Esports Game
Nominees:
- Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
- Dota 2
- League of Legends
- Rocket League
- Valorant
Regarding Best Esports Game, we think “League of Legends” or “Counter-Strike: Global Offensive” will have a good shot at taking home the trophy. Both games have huge fanbases and have been around for a long time, making them household names in the esports scene.
League of Legends has been especially successful this year with its new Champions and cosmetics being released regularly. It also has an incredibly active community that organizes tournaments and events all around the world. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is no slouch either as it remains one of the most competitive first-person shooters in the world.
However, we’re banking on the new kid on the block, Valorant, to be the underdog here and take home the trophy. For the little amount of time the game has been on the scene – it has made waves within esports, and is only growing.
Best Esports Team
Nominees:
- FaZe Clan
- Darkzero Esports
- Gen.G
- LA Thieves
- Loud
Finally, for Best Esports Team we think FaZe Clan or Gen.G will take home the win this year. FaZe Clan has been dominating in both North America and Europe with their Counter-Strike: Global Offensive teams.
Gen.G, however, has been consistently performing with excellence in League of Legends events throughout the year. We think that this category will be a tough call and it’s hard to tell who will come out on top due to the nature of the category also, but both of these teams have a good chance at taking home the title.
If we had to pick however, our bet would be with FaZe clan, as they are becoming more and more of a staple in a multitude of games. With dominance in a lot of titles to date.
