Complexity is an American professional esports organization based in Frisco, Texas. It was founded in 2003 as a Counter-Strike: Source team and has since expanded into other games, such as Call of Duty, Dota 2, Fortnite Battle Royale, Gears of War, Halo 5: Guardians, Madden NFL, Overwatch, StarCraft IIand World of Warcraft. As of September 2019, the organization has teams in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Fortnite and Overwatch.
Complexity was founded by Jason Lake, who is also the current CEO. The organization’s first Counter-Strike team was assembled in January 2007. In August 2010, they merged with Evil Geniuses, another well-known gaming organization. The merge brought in former EG members Jordan “n0thing” Gilbert and Kory “SEMPHIS” Friesen, as well as other players.
Complexity has had several successful runs with their Counter-Strike teams. In 2013, they won the ESEA Invite Season 15 GlobalFinals. In 2014, they placed 2nd at the ESL One Cologne Major. In 2015, they again won the ESEA Invite Season 18 Global Finals. And in 2016, they became the first North American team to win a CS:GO Major, taking first place at the ELEAGUE Major Boston.
Complexity Gaming had a very successful inaugural season in the Overwatch League. The team finished in the top four overall and made it to the semi-finals of the playoffs.
