What Is LANRaiders?

LANRaiders was founded in March of 2007 by a group of friends who all shared a love for video games. The name LANRaiders was inspired by the movie “Raiders of the Lost Ark” and the fact that they loved to play games together offline (LAN parties). The LANRaiders community has grown steadily since its inception and now boasts over 200 members from all over the world. The community is very active on social media and their website, and they often host events and tournaments for their members, including two LAN parties which run twice per year.

The LANRaiders are more than just a gaming community; they are a family. They support each other through thick and thin, and they are always there to lend a helping hand, having raised over $10,000 for charity. They run their BYOC LAN events with the aim of providing a local, well priced (not-for-profit) weekend of gaming action and socialising.

The LANRaiders are always looking for new members to join their family. If you are interested in joining, please visit their website or reach out to them on social media. They would love to have you as a part of their community!

Main Events & Tournament Information

LANRaiders have previously hosted a number of tournaments including:

  • CS:GO
  • Rocket League
  • Trackmania
  • Dirt 3
  • Left 4 Dead 2
  • Half Life 2: Death Match
  • Golf With Your Friends

Any leftover funds from ticket purchases go into the tournament prizes on top of sponsors which provide prizes!

The LANRaiders have a complete gigabit Ethernet network with all wiring in place at each workstation. Everyone has internet access. In order to minimise lag issues, service quality is actively regulated. They also have a big NAS disk with almost any custom maps, configs, or game settings you could want, so if you’re missing anything, they’ll do everything they can to get it for you. It’s as simple as inserting the wire into your PC!

LANRaiders check network traffic to ensure that everything runs as smoothly as possible because the internet connection at our events is shared by everyone. If excessive bandwidth usage is detected, a member of staff will request that you cease downloading.

Despite the fact that they have a LAN cache with steam games and updates, please double-check to ensure your games are up to date before coming. Simply seek assistance from a member of staff if you need help downloading a particularly large file or want clarification on what you’re downloading.

Finally, multiplayer gaming in a private and lag-free environment. No more cancelling sessions because of poor network connectivity! They have set up dedicated servers for our main tournament games as well as any other free play times that they can accommodate so you’ll never miss out on experiencing this amazing feature.

We’ve all had those mornings when we painstakingly update our steam apps late Thursday night and then first thing on Saturday there’s a patch or some other obnoxious thing to download. And not only do you need it for yourself, but twelve other people also want it at the same time too!

LAN Raiders has a new feature that makes it so your network doesn’t have to do any extra work! With the LANCache box, all of those pesky patches and downloads are pre-cached in one place. You don’t even need additional configuration. So that’s a win!

Internet access has been provided for all attendees as standard. Just plug in that Ethernet cable and you’ll be online! With so many gamers coming together at one place, any connection will suffer from the weight of traffic; but they take care to optimise our routers properly so game players don’t experience laggy gameplay or buffering times due their download speeds being too slow paced.
