The Origins of Team Liquid

Netherlands, 2000. Victor “Nazgul” Goossens and Steven “Liquid” Arhancet, formed Team Liquid. The two had been playing together in various online games since 1999 and decided to establish their own professional gaming organization. With a strong focus on the game StarCraft: Brood War, Team Liquid quickly became one of the most successful esports organizations in the world.

In 2002, Team Liquid expanded into the game Warcraft 3, with both Goossens and Arhancet leading successful squads. The team saw even more success in 2004 when it won the World Cyber Games championship.

With the release of StarCraft 2 in 2010, Team Liquid once again established itself as a leading esports organization. The team won several major championships over the next few years, solidifying its reputation as one of the best in the world.

In 2017, aXiomatic acquired Team Liquid, a global esports and entertainment company. This has helped to further propel the team to new heights, as it continues to compete at the highest levels of gaming.
